Mobile Data Services Outlook

The previously low usage by North American subscribers of SMS and other messaging services is beginning to change as mobile data is expected to account for 10% of total mobile services revenue in 2008, compared to just 4.8% in 2004. As the popularity of mobile messaging services continue to grow, recent reports indicate 2008-2012 to be exciting times for mobile messaging technologies. With total revenues approaching $120 billion globally by 2010, the messaging market is poised to be one of the key growth sectors in mobile services. The driving force behind this lies in the fact that messaging services provide a timely, cost-effective, customer-specific communication and information capability.

Part of this projected growth will come from new markets, such as the developing areas of Asia Pacific, in combination with an increasingly complex marketplace of consumer and business users expected to send 2.3 trillion messages in 2008. By 2012 global SMS revenues are expected to reach US$ 67 billion, driven by 3.7 trillion messages.

Amid this perfect storm of subscriber adoption combined with a wave of worldwide subscriber growth, Teleios MessageCentral can be integrated with existing infrastructure to enable mobile network operators to keep pace with this escalating mobile messaging market.
